Bonding
In dentistry, bonding refers to the techniques associated with attaching porcelain or plastic surfaces to the surface of a tooth.

The process is used to attach inlays, onlays, sealants, porcelain veneers, and porcelain crowns as well as to fix cracked or chipped teeth and fill cavities.

The surface of the tooth that is to be bonded is first prepared by cleaning and drying.

Then it is "etched" by a mild acid to make the enamel porous and receptive to the liquid bonding material.

After the bonding material is allowed to harden for a little while, pieces of composite resins that are matched to the patient's existing tooth color are set on the tooth and polished for a nice look.
